David Cadman
As President of ICLEI, Mr. Cadman has represented Local Governments, ICLEI’s municipal membership, internationally at the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, the Parties to the UNFCC, and the UN Convention of Biological Diversity. He has spoken at countless international congresses and conferences, worldwide.
David Cadman was elected to City of Vancouver Council for three consecutive terms (2002-2011). He has also served in various roles with the Coalition of Progressive Electors (COPE), Greater Vancouver Regional District, Metro Vancouver, Translink, and the United Nations-initiated International Association of Peace Messenger Cities.
A social and environmental activist for over 30 years, he has served as the President of the Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC), and at the national and international levels in the UN Association; he was awarded the UN Peace and 50th Anniversary Medals.
Born in Montréal, raised in Toronto, and schooled in Tennessee, Mr. Cadman studied in Geneva and Paris, developed literacy programs in Tanzania and Kenya, and finally returned to Canada in 1976 where he settled in British Columbia.
